Rancid: every album every song
by Paul Matts Author
The narrative of this book goes that there was one true punk bank still standing — a band called Rancid. Other punk acts had hybridized with different genres and “classic” punk had become a caricature expression or unrecognizable to its roots. Rancid formed in 1991 with members heralding from the Bay Area following the fall of Operation Ivy, where the members had met. Come 1994 and the band was a platinum selling group with their album …And Out Came the Wolves. The band then went mainstream — performing on MTV, their music broadcast on the radio, and even Saturday Night Live. Despite this exposure, Rancid stuck to their punk roots and network — promoting liberation and unity. Paul Matts interviews the members and they describe their nine studio albums, track by track, their singles, member splits, rare tidbits, as well as their unofficial releases.
